Weekend Escape?
Well I'm off to Yosemite tomorrow to meet up with my girlfriend and her family, I guess this is some ritual they do every year. Of course she didn't understand why I couldn't miss work, but that a whole different story. The only problem arises is her family takes an RV and as much as I like camping in the outdoors, I hate RVs even more. I got in the woods to get away from the world not to have some jack ass run a generator all night. Personally I'd ban RVs from national parks, keep the trailers in Lancaster where the belong.
New Angel in the Outfield
After qame 3 weeks ago, Mondesi comes back to play with the Angels(for $1.75 Million, heck I'd do it too). I guess its a quick fix, but it could get ugly when Salmon and Garret come back.
Watershed Pollution
One of the Master's courses I am currently taking is in Watershed Management, where the basic theory of the class is we can't just look at point source water pollution polluters when you formulate regulation that attempts to create cleaner water. The problem with the theory is the regulators only have the power over the point source polluters (ie. treatment plants & factories). This discussion is forced by growing population and the need to access more water sources and water storage, which will have to be groundwater. Unfortunately much of the groundwater is polluted beyond any reasonable use and getting worse. [Although Santa Monica won $100 million in court to clean up the Charnock Well Field after MTBE pollution ruined it. I imagine partly through the use of RCRA.] The watershed approach method looks to optimize regulation and use to produce a net environmental benefit for the money invested.
The Clean Water Act was the base ground work for cleaning water (obviously). The empowerment of the EPA has made great strides in creating safe drinking water and clean effluent from treatment plants and other wastewaters.
The other big step was RCRA (Resource Conservation and Recovery Act), which made the creators of a hazardous waste or chemical responsible for that that chemical or waste from the cradle to the grave.
However, the regulation leaves out the major non-point polluter in the country, agricultural business. Under the current rules the point sources have to make their effluent clean enough to neutralize those effects. It doesn't work and costs a lot of money and nothing gets better [In fact some cities ,under current rules] will be forced to go to RO (reverse osmosis) which will make cleaner effluent than tap water, but it will make no difference. One big step would be extending the RCRA controls to agriculture where they have to bear some responsibility for the contaminates they put into the water.
Our water demand is increasing, while supplies aren't and the "do nothing" approach that has been applied to our groundwater supplies is ineffective and will only cause the monetary cost in the future to increase in order to deal with the problem.

Naming Carriers
Now that the USS Ronald Reagan is in service and the George H.W. Bush being built, I was thinking about what the next carrier would be named. I would say it definitely NOT be the William Jefferson Clinton, but does anyone have a suggestion on what kind of ship would be named after Clinton?
I would say the next carrier will be the George W. Bush, but if you disagree inform me what you think the next carrier will be named and what will be named after George W. Bush?
Another thing I find ironic is why are we naming a attack sub after Jimmy Carter? I mean when I think of Carter, I don't see a attack sub, but that could just be me.

Zell Miller
Name a current republican who would make a great president:
Condi Rice

Reagan Returns
"A troubled and afflicted mankind looks to us, pleading for us to keep our rendezvous with destiny... We will uphold the principles of self-reliance, self-discipline, morality, and — above all — responsible liberty for every individual."
[Ronald Reagan; November 13, 1979 in the Grand Ballroom of the New York Hilton, announced his candidacy for the Republican presidential nomination]
The USS Ronald Reagan has left Norfolk to come home to California.
He dedicated his Presidency to fighting for America and now the ship with his namesake will continue that job and like Reagan's Presidency it will be with Honor.

Angels dig White Castle
Whats do you if you flight is delayed in Detroit? Go to White Castle.
Heavy fog and thunderstorms late Sunday forced the Angels' charter to be diverted from Toronto to Detroit.
The Angels reached Detroit about 2 a.m. Monday and, because of landing restrictions in Toronto, sat on the tarmac for four hours. They finally flew to Toronto, arriving at 6:30 a.m. and reaching their hotel at 8 a.m.
Emerging as a hero in the Angels' travails was traveling secretary Tom Taylor, who made a middle-of-the-night food run to White Castle in Detroit and returned with 240 burgers and 25 bags of fries, a $325 order that caught employees of the burger joint off guard.
Well it was funny to me
So my girlfriend is nagging me to buy her diamond earrings for her birthday, but apparently she didn't find it funny to suggest that for her birthday she was getting the dents taken out of my car, but it was vandalized infront of her parent's house. [I also said she was getting new tires for my car, because the treads are separating, despite the fact she chose diamond earrings & fiery death over tires]
On the positive side her house will be on the map, the Redondo Beach Police Department Crime map. Although the resulting drop in property values will probably be more than the body work.
On a Ingrahammer moment I had a bout with insomnia and killed time by yelling at the tv. I happened to catch "Tough Crowd" on Comedy Central, with the scAir America Crew. What a bunch of tards. Colin characterized Andy MORONney's as indicative of the left and the said he's not left, holy crap if they think he is moderate what does that make them? Of course Garcrapalo brought up Madonna canceling shows in Israel, but it wasn't the terrorist's fault it was corporate America. What a bunch of Donks.
Update: Lakers won tonight, no one suprised.

Sarin Confirmed
Its officially sarin now, to be delivered in a binary mixing weapon. Funny thing is, sarin wasn't declared, the shell was unmarked and in fact we didn't even know Saddam was testing or producing the binary deliver sarin until the defection of his son-in-law.
Leaves the question how much more is out there?, Where is it? & Who has it?
But in these cases I won't hold my breath over the mainstream media covering it.
Update: For all you Michael Moore fans out there, Sarin == Chemical Weapon == WMD

UN Scam, out doing UN Scam
With all the questions surrounding the Oil-for-Food Scam, do you think this new scam will get any media coverage?
But what kind of people would make women have sex with them for food? Rebels? Local Militia?
Nope, UN Peacekeepers.
Faela is 13 years old; Joseph is just under six months. Sitting on the dusty ground in Bunia's largest camp for internally-displaced people (IDPs), she cradles Joseph in her arms, and talks about how she ensures that she and her son are fed.
"If I go and see the soldiers at night and sleep with them, then they sometimes give me food, maybe a banana or a cake," she says, looking down at her son. "I have to do it with them because there is nobody to care, nobody else to protect Joseph except me. He is all I have and I must look after him."

^%%$%#%$#%!
Yesterday was not a good day.
Well start with a Saturday re-cap. Was down in the Marina helping the sea scouts, which was quite productive. I was able to pass on some of the things I learned in Sea Scouts to the new members, if it sticks with them or helps any........well that is yet to be seen. Also did some work on the pulling boat they own refitting new oarlocks and putting in a temporary deck inside of it to make it usable for training.
Then we get to Sunday, which I came into some tickets to see Karen Hughes speak. She was fantastic, its great to see people from the Bush Administration out in public and countering what the mainstream media says about Bush Administration. She touched on her decision to move back to Texas with her family and her continued involvement with the White House, but most of her time was talking about misconceptions of the Administration, what her and the President's principles are, what kind of man George Bush is, and of course the War on Terror. I believe she is speaking in Thousand Oaks and Pasadena over the next two days I highly recommend going if you can.
Then what ruined my day...when we were leaving for the speech I noticed 2 huge dent in my car that weren't there on Friday. They were the kind someone would notice if they did, but the effin bastard didn't even have the decency to to leave a note about it. Why can't some people take any responsibility for their actions? Because someone was a jack ass now I have to go spend a good amount of money to get them taken out, it especially peeves me off because I've taken good care of my car (and just spent $700 to fix up the emissions system). Arrgggh just one of those days.
Update: talked to my neighbor who is a cop, he said "Yup looks like vandalism," so going to go file a police report tomorrow. On the bright side, at least it wasn't stolen.
